AND THE WINNERS ARE!

Breanna’s Gift held a 5K Running for Smiles event on October 7, 2017. And the winners are……………EVERYONE!

It was a cloudy, drizzly day, but that didn’t stop us from having fun. We would like to say thank you to our event patrons, Werner Electric, Rick and Tamra Anderson and Go Kart Labs; to Marge Meyer Associates for all of our marketing materials; to our event volunteers; to Kim Bergman for T-Shirt design; to Heidilynn Johnson for T-Shirt layout and to all of the run participants.

Congratulations to the winner of the race, Number 6, Billy Gese.

Number 21, Finnegan, was the winner in the canine division. Truth be told, we didn’t actually have a canine division, but Finnegan stole the show, coming in first and last.

Cudos to Billy and Finnegan.

And Thank You EVERYONE for your support!

These individual art classes in a box are now being sent to: Children’s Hospital Los Angeles in CA., Children’s Hospital of Richmond @ VCU in VA., Mayo Eugenio Litta Children’s Hospital in MN., Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children in FL., Medical City Children’s Hospital in TX., & American Family Children’s Hospital in WI.

Hot Rods without Wheels

Our board of directors learned quickly that hot rods sometimes come without wheels.  At FOCI, Minnesota Center for Glass Arts we used rods that got Very HOT; combining art and fun to create paper weights for Breanna’s Star silent auction. Thank you to FOCI, Alli and Taylor for an amazing art experience. Join us Saturday, April 29th at Plymouth Creek Center from 7-10:30 and see the results.  Buy your tickets today!

Is She Really Only 6?

This fall a very special 6-year-old named Aubrey started a fundraising campaign for Breanna’s Gift.  I had the pleasure of receiving the results of her efforts and the joy of meeting Aubrey and her mom. Aubrey posted campaign videos, had a fundraiser at her dance studio, Woodbury Dance Center and had a fundraising table at the Mall of America. She raised $424.83 and collected donations of art supplies and costumes for our program. Aubrey, we are honored that you have contributed so much of your time and talent to Breanna’s Gift. Check out the video links below. When you see them you will be asking the same question I did, is she really only 6?   https://youtu.be/BxdQYu2X-Es     https://youtu.be/8V4sT-Mk9BU

Aubrey was also kind enough to show me some of her dance moves. My favorite and perhaps hers was her sassy walk. With this move, she is a natural. Thank you Aubrey!!

It’s Humbling and such an Honor!

Over $19,000 was raised for Breanna’s Gift on Give to the Max Day, 2016. We are both humbled and honored that you have chosen our organization to receive such amazing support. Thank you from Breanna’s Gift Board of Directors, our teachers and volunteers and from all of the children and families we have the privilege of working with.20161103_17010520161020_16153020161110_154144

“Pay It Forward” is a Reality

It was a quiet Saturday morning and a most surprising and special letter was delivered to Breanna’s Gift. A note from a Bell Banks employee and a check for $1,000. The note explained about a “Pay It Forward” program that the bank established to help community charities and Breanna’s Gift was the recipient of this support. We’ve all heard the expression, but how many times has it actually affected us? We would like to thank Bell Banks for turning the “Pay It Forward” expression into a reality for many non profit organizations including ours. Thank you to Bell Banks for this wonderful program. And thank you to the Fargo, ND employees who put Breanna’s Gift on the list of organizations for consideration and who chose us to receive support from the “Pay It Forward” program. https://www.bellbanks.com/Pay-It-Forward/About

MRAC Grant for 2017 Programming

Breanna’s Gift is the recipient of a $10,000 MRAC Arts Activity Grant which will help support our programs from January, 2017 through August, 2017. This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Metropolitan Regional Arts Council, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund. We are honored! THANK YOU to all who make this possible.MRAC_websitelogoheader.pub

Back to the Renaissance

jennifer_8.2016 tate&joe_8.2016Breanna’s Gift had a tent at the Renaissance Festival. If you haven’t been it’s a trip back in time with castles, kings and of course, turkey drumsticks. For us, it was an opportunity to introduce our program to the community of Renaissance fans and we had lots of fun being there.

Our volunteers weathered all the conditions possible during a Minnesota outdoor event: the rain, the sun and the mosquitoes, right?  THANK YOU VOLUNTEERS for helping us give our program more exposure.
