Art Takeout by Breanna’s Gift

“It Takes a Village”

It takes a village to raise a child” is an African proverb. I can tell you that preparing over 1,000 Art Takeout projects for our program in the Twin Cities in addition to shipping them to six Children’s Hospitals across the country definitely “takes a village.” And a village is exactly what we had. Led by art takeout coordinator Denise Crestik, we thank Washburn High School’s Ultimate Frisbee team, Avalon Salon in Elk River and DeLaSalle High School art students for making this all happen. We couldn’t do it without your help. Thank you for all you do for the children Breanna’s Gift works with!

DeLaSalle Art Students Help Once Again!

14 Art Students from DeLaSalle High School prepared 840 Art Takeout boxes for distribution to 6 hospitals across the country. I did the math.

28 helping hands = 840 smiles just like this one. That’s Awesome!

Thank you to members of our board of directors for their help and to the art students and teachers for making this all happen.

Parsons Electric Prepares 770 Art Takeout Projects

Parsons Electric Volunteers led by Carol Walberg prepared 770 Art Takeout Projects. They are helping us be proactive in getting ready to ship these projects to Children’s Hospitals across the country. Hospitals receiving Art Takeout over the next several months are Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU, Mayo Eugenio Litto Children’s Hospital in Rochester, MN, Orlando Hospital for Children, Medical City Children’s Hospital in Dallas, TX and American Family Children’s Hospital in Madison, WI. Thank you Parsons for taking time from your busy schedules and for being a part of Breanna’s Gift.

DeLaSalle Art Students prepare 700 Art Takeout projects

The art students at DeLaSalle created a flurry of activity as they prepared 700 Art Takeout projects for Breanna’s Gift. The projects are being sent to 6 Children’s Hospitals across the country and we are so honored that students took time from their busy schedules to help out. In an hour, they prepared the 6 different art projects and it was exciting to be part of their enthusiasm, efficiency and energy. Thank you to everyone involved for being such a big part of Breanna’s Gift.

More than 450 projects in a little over 3 hours. WOW and THANK YOU BARR ENGINEERING!

Sharing the news!

We love sharing great news! Our program has expanded at all 3 of our current locations.

Classes continue at Ronald McDonald House where we have  added Art Takeout to the mix.  Ronald McDonald House is now receiving our Art Takeout projects and bringing them to the kids at the 3 remote Ronald McDonald Houses located in Children’s Minnesota Minneapolis and St. Paul campuses and Gillette Children’s Hospital.

At Children’s Minnesota in St. Paul we have expanded our program from 3 Fridays a month to every Friday.

At Children’s Minnesota in Minneapolis as our classes continue every Wednesday on the Hematology/Oncology and Pediatric Care floors; we have added classes and room to room visits on the Cardiovascular Care and Pediatric Intensive Care floors.

We announce this news with joy and enthusiasm as we bring the arts and that many more smiles to the children that we are privileged to work with.

Inside the Lines

Coloring inside the lines is what we are all told not to do. But when you are in the hospital spending days, weeks and sometimes months with your sick child, maybe it’s just what you need. Breanna’s Gift has just developed a new Art Takeout series and it’s for the adults who might be looking for a little diversion from long hours spent in a hospital room. “Inside the Lines” is an opportunity to make the simplest of decisions. Which drawing do I want to color? What color should I choose? Do I want to blend colors or keep it really basic. No matter what you decide, enjoy it all!
